Baseball Recap: Notre Dame Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

Notre Dame's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lawrenceville School Big Red a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Irish have won five matches by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Joe Lech tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Notre Dame got a massive performance out of Rocco Valentino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Valentino a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Shipula, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Notre Dame is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Lawrenceville School, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Notre Dame will square off against Steinert at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lawrenceville School, they will challenge Lawrence at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Big Red surely won't give up without a fight.
