Softball Recap: Coolidge Has No Trouble Against Ray

Coolidge barely beat Ray the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Coolidge was the clear victor by a 21-3 margin over Ray on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Kassidy Mitchell was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Joaquin, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.

Mitchell wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Coolidge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. Coolidge is a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Coolidge and bumps their season record up to 5-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Ray, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Coming up, Coolidge will take on Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give Coolidge their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Ray, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Ray Bearcats duke it out with Superior Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: Superior has averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
