Baseball Recap: Pathfinder RVT Takes a Loss

Pathfinder RVT had lost five straight on the road, but on Sunday they dropped their record down to 8-7 to make it six. They fell just short of the Smith Vo-Tech Vikings by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 on Sunday.

Zander Auffrey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Pathfinder RVT saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Mega, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Grayson Griswold was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As for Smith Vo-Tech, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

On Smith Vo-Tech's side, Kaleb Jorritsma was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up six earned runs off six hits. Jorritsma was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jarred Baer, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James Lavallee, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As of now, neither Pathfinder RVT nor Smith Vo-Tech have any future games scheduled.
