Softball Recap: Marina Takes Down Yorba Linda in a Playoff Battle

Marina extended their postseason success on Saturday against Yorba Linda. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

The team relied heavily on Halle Piramo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Ava Kim was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Marina hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 12 consecutive matchups.

Marina's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-13. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Yorba Linda, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-13.

Coming up, Marina will take on Westlake at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. Yorba Linda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
