Softball Recap: Bruceville-Eddy's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

The matchup between Bruceville-Eddy and Hamilton on Friday hardly resembled the 3-1 effort from their previous meeting. Bruceville-Eddy came out on top against Hamilton by a score of 14-9. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Avah Williams, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Loren Sardaneta, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Williams wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Bruceville-Eddy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Bruceville-Eddy's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-10. As for Hamilton, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coming up, Bruceville-Eddy will square off against Crawford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hamilton, they will challenge Valley Mills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamilton's pitchers better be ready for this one: Valley Mills has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
