Baseball Recap: Faith Baptist Comes Up Short

Faith Baptist extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They lost 14-0 to the Trinity Classical Academy Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on Tuesday.

As for Trinity Classical Academy, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 15-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games.

For Trinity Classical Academy's part, Andrew Carlson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Carlson has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Trinity Classical Academy let Luke Backes and Quinn Minyard run wild. Backes went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Minyard went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Minyard a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aiden Visconti, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Faith Baptist will welcome Desert Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Contenders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Trinity Classical Academy, they will host Oakwood at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
