Basketball Recap: Hidalgo Early College Comes Up Short

Hidalgo Early College came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 64-38 to the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

It was another big night for Mason Lopez, who went 8-for-14 en route to 22 points for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North. Lopez has been hot, having posted 18 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Garza, who shot 42% from the field on his way to 14 points.

Hidalgo Early College's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Hidalgo Early College will take on Donna in a tournament on Thursday. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they will be taking part in a tournament against Rio Grande City at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
