5A District 5 recap October 1, 2013

South Oldham scored a shocking upset when it eliminated Conner, 34-32. At the time, the Cougars were ranked 15th in the state, while the Dragons were 67th.

The biggest upset of the week belonged to South Oldham, who took down 15th ranked Conner, 34-32.

COREY FUSSINGER made the biggest impact on defense this week as Cooper lost to Scott. He.

Josh Castleman was a passing and rushing force as the Eagles bested the Jaguars. Castleman's favorite target this week was Nick Brinkman, who caught 2 passes for 40 yards.

FUSSINGER was the best wideout in 5A District 5 this week as Cooper lost to Scott. FUSSINGER tallied 4 receptions for 62 yards. AVERY BRICKING helped Cooper's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 21 yards.

Randy Borchers' team's WILLIAM LUDWIG and FUSSINGER have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. LUDWIG has thrown for 1,157 yards this season, while FUSSINGER has 29 catches for 379 yards. Dan Woolley's team's Castleman leads the league in rushing yards with 717.

The Jaguars are currently in fourth, while James Trosper's team is in second.

The Eagles extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Cooper, 28-21. The victory was the sixth in a row for Scott.
