Softball Recap: Clark Takes a Loss

If Clark was feeling good fresh off their 15-4 takedown of LEE last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Clark Cougars fell just short of the Churchill Chargers by a score of 15-13 on Friday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ryan Liegl and Madyson Martinez did some serious damage despite the final result: Liegl scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Martinez scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. Liegl has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Alyna Marrufo was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Clark kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Clark's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Churchill, their record is now 5-11-1.

Clark has already played their next matchup, a 15-5 win against Madison on the 10th. As for Churchill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-5 victory against Brandeis on the 10th.
