Football Recap: Del Valle Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Del Valle challenged Leander on Friday. The Cardinals had to suffer through a 43-14 loss at the hands of the Lions. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Ke'Marion Gordon was a one-man wrecking crew For Leander. as he rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Those 167 rushing yards gave Gordon a new career-high. Dominic Jaramillo was in the mix as well, providing Leander with two TDs.

Del Valle now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Leander, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Del Valle will take on Copperas Cove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Bulldawgs have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Leander, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Georgetown at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. The game will give the Lions their first taste of in-conference action this season.
