Softball Game Preview: Linden Eagles vs. Swartz Creek Dragons

Linden has gone a perfect 10-0 against Swartz Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Dragons at 4:00 p.m. Linden knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Swartz Creek likes a good challenge.

Linden came out on top against Holly on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Bronchos. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bronchos recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Tessa Zilisch (2027) was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addi Siegwald (2027), who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sophia Helm (2025), who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Linden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Swartz Creek's offense. They came up short against Fenton on Thursday, falling 14-0. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Linden pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Swartz Creek, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Linden took their win against Swartz Creek in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
