Berkeley waltzed into their match on Wednesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. Everything went their way against the Tamalpais Red-Tailed Hawks as they made off with a 3-0 win.

While Berkeley won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-16, 27-25, 25-12.

Satchel Room paced Berkeley's offense, picking up 16 kills. Room got some help from Oscar Hernandez and his 31 assists. Hernandez also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Axel Hawkins, each putting up two.

Berkeley's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Tamalpais, their defeat ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9.

Berkeley and Tamalpais should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Yellowjackets (ranked 128th) will meet Piedmont (ranked 743rd) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Tamalpais will square off against Marin Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (425 vs. 981).
