Baseball Recap: Southwest Guilford's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Southwest Guilford put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Page Pirates an 8-0 shutout. The Cowboys have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pirates, too.

Aidan Mcpherson was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Ryan Berry was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Southwest Guilford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Southwest Guilford pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Page, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest Guilford is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will take on Western Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Western Alamance will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Southwest Guilford surely won't give up without a fight. As for Page, they will face off against North Hills Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Hills Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
