Preview: Wossman Wildcats vs. Bastrop Rams
The Wossman Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Bastrop Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wossman will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Thursday, Wossman got themselves on the board against Richwood, but Richwood never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Rams 28-0 at home. Given Wossman's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Richwood is ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eric Griffin was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Griffin is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Bastrop pushed their score all the way to 36 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 42-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of General Trass. Bastrop has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wossman's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1. They've been dominating across those matchups too: they took their wins by an average of 42 points. Bastrop has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Everything went Wossman's way against Bastrop when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as Wossman made off with a 26-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wossman since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
