Basketball Recap: Deering Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bangor last Friday, Deering came back down to earth. The Deering Rams took a 69-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Portland Red Riots on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Red Riots are ranked 13th).

Deering's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for South Portland, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Scarborough the next time they take the court. South Portland will host Scarborough at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Deering will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
