Baseball Game Preview: Clearview Pioneers vs. Deptford Spartans

Clearview is a perfect 5-0 against Deptford since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Clearview's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.

Last Wednesday, Clearview got the win against Gloucester County Tech by a conclusive 13-3. Fans of the Pioneers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Giovanni Marinucci looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Clearview let Braden Reiter and Ryan Battista run wild. Reiter scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Battista scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Pat Yurgin, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Clearview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gloucester County Tech only posted a batting average of .214.

Meanwhile, Deptford beat Cumberland 9-4 on Wednesday.

Clearview pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Deptford, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Clearview took their win against Deptford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
