Preview: Clifton-Clyde Eagles vs. Valley Heights Mustangs
The Clifton-Clyde Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Valley Heights Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clifton-Clyde is looking to tack on another W to their 15-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Clifton-Clyde stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Onaga 70-41 at home. Given Clifton-Clyde's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Onaga is ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Valley Heights' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a hard 63-47 fall against Centralia. Valley Heights has not had much luck with Centralia recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Clifton-Clyde's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Valley Heights, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Clifton-Clyde took their victory against Valley Heights in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 69-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clifton-Clyde since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
