Basketball Recap: San Ysidro Takes a Loss

San Ysidro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mar Vista Mariners. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-60 back in January.

Despite the loss, San Ysidro still got an impressive performance from Jordan Miranda, who posted 22 points and five rebounds. Those 22 points gave Miranda a new career-high. Logan Songvilay was another key player, putting up 12 points and five boards.

Jahaziel Catano was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Mar Vista. With that strong performance, Catano is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Jonan Ceballos, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

San Ysidro's record now sits at 2-21. As for Mar Vista, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Otay Ranch the next time they take the court. San Ysidro will host Otay Ranch at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while Mar Vista will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
