After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Sumter, Wildwood was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Ocala Christian Crusaders as the Wildwood Wildcats made off with a 16-6 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Emory Strickland made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit over four innings pitched. Strickland was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, KJ Cope was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Grayson Kelly, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Wildwood's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Ocala Christian, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wildwood will face off against Orlando Christian Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ocala Christian, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on St. John Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
