Softball Recap: Athens Drive Comes Up Short

Athens Drive had taken Enloe down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. Athens Drive took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Enloe. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 6, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Isabelle Catalano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Cora Driscoll was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

Athens Drive's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Enloe, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Athens Drive and Enloe will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time Athens Drive sees the field they'll take on Wake Prep Academy at 4:30 p.m. on April 7. As for Enloe, their break will end when they face Sanderson at 4:00 p.m. on April 8.
