Basketball Recap: Fort Bend Kempner Comes Up Short

Fort Bend Kempner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat. They were beaten by the Randle Lions 57-13. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1314th, while the Lions are ranked 500th).

Nia McWilliams was Fort Bend Kempner's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Jayla Mcclure held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

It was another big night for Alaysia Cook, who went 10 for 22 on her way to 25 points and six steals for Randle. Cook is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kurynn McNeill, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds.

Fort Bend Kempner's loss dropped their record down to 6-21. As for Randle, they pushed their record up to 18-12 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home.

Fort Bend Kempner wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-33 defeat against Victoria East on the 4th. Randle will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Sterling at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th. Sterling will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Randle surely won't give up without a fight.
