Volleyball Recap: Southside Christian Takes a Loss

After flying high against Carolina Academy last Thursday, Southside Christian came back down to earth. The Sabres came up short against the Powdersville Patriots on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Sabres in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost seven in a row.

The final score came out to 25-19, 25-14, 25-5.

Mattie Phillips paced Southside Christian's offense, picking up eight kills. Phillips got some help from Lindsey Karabin and her 17 assists. Finally, Phillips was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Southside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Powdersville, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4.

Southside Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Palmetto on the 25th. As for Powdersville, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Christ Church Episcopal on the 24th.
