Carlinville posted their closest victory since October 22, 2024 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Lincolnwood Lancers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cavaliers.

Carlinville had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-19, 25-19.

Madeline Murphy paced Carlinville's offense, picking up 12 kills. Murphy got some help from Rowan Nepute and her 22 assists. Ruthie Reels controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Despite the loss, Lincolnwood still got an impressive performance from Ava Walton, who had seven digs and two aces.

The victory got Carlinville back to even at 4-4. As for Lincolnwood, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-5.

Coming up, Carlinville will welcome Southwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincolnwood, they will head out to take on South County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
