Basketball Recap: Lakeside Comes Up Short

Lakeside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 56-46 to the Strom Thurmond Rebels.

Strom Thurmond's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but AJ Walker led the charge by dropping a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most points Walker has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bralen Searles, who shot 62% from the field en route to 18 points and six boards.

Lakeside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Strom Thurmond, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lakeside and Thomson will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Strom Thurmond will take on Midland Valley in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
