Basketball Recap: Irvington Preparatory Academy Comes Up Short

Irvington Preparatory Academy was the 90-67 winner over Providence Cristo Rey when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Irvington Preparatory Academy fell 66-53 to the Providence Cristo Rey Wolves on Thursday.

Loss or not, Irvington Preparatory Academy got some senior leadership from Kase Johnson and Owen Kriech. Johnson posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals, while Kriech had 13 points along with five boards and three steals. Those 13 points gave Kriech a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Page, who put up seven points and six rebounds.

Irvington Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Providence Cristo Rey, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Irvington Preparatory Academy and Phalen Leadership Academy will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Irvington Preparatory Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season. As for Providence Cristo Rey, they will host Milford at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
