Basketball Recap: Southwest Skates Past Northeast with Ease

It was a classic North v. South duel when Southwest faced off against Northeast on Wednesday. The Southwest Patriots took their contest with ease, bagging a 68-37 victory over the Northeast Raiders. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Southwest got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was C.J. Howard out in front who posted 11 points in addition to seven assists and five steals. Those five steals gave Howard a new career-high. Chase Dupree was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six boards and five steals.

Howard wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Southwest was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists.they racked up six more assists than Northeast's almost as impressive total of ten

When it comes to explaining why Northeast lost, don't look at Keundre Jackson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Jackson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavarus Tinsley Jr, who earned ten points and five boards.

Southwest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points over those games. As for Northeast, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-19.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Southwest beat Northeast by a score of 80-45 on Friday.
