Soccer Game Preview: La Joya vs. Weslaco

The La Joya Coyotes will venture away from home to take on the Weslaco Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Joya's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

La Joya's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They beat Pharr-San Juan-Alamo by a goal, winning 1-0. The Coyotes haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Weslaco challenged Economedes on Tuesday. Weslaco fell just short of Economedes by a score of 3-2. It was the first time this season that the Panthers let down their fans at home.

The victory got La Joya back to even at 10-10. As for Weslaco, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 19-2.

La Joya might still be hurting after the 5-1 loss they got from Weslaco in their previous matchup on February 4th. Can La Joya avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
