Softball Recap: Julian Eagles vs. Vincent Memorial Scots
After flying high against Borrego Springs on Friday, Julian came back down to earth. The Eagles came up short against the Vincent Memorial Scots on Wednesday, falling 18-11. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Scots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Avalina Magante-Ortiz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Charlee Sparks was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Julian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Vincent Memorial, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Julian will take on Guajome Park Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Frogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.14 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Vincent Memorial, they will host Calipatria at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
