Recap: University Trojans vs. Pflugerville Connally Cougars
The University Trojans waltzed into Friday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Pflugerville Connally with points to spare, taking the game 41-23. That result was just more of the same for these two, as University also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
University's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from LaDarrius Evans, who rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was London Smith, who gained 85 total yards and two touchdowns.
University's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Edgar Marquez and his two sacks.
University's win was their fifth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.8 points per game. As for Pflugerville Connally, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
University will take on Belton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Reese Rumfield and Cade Bynnom. As for Pflugerville Connally, they will be playing at home against Pflugerville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Pflugerville is ranked 635th, while Pflugerville Connally is ranked 625th).
