Basketball Preview: Cincinnati Christian Cougars vs. New Miami Vikings
Cincinnati Christian is 10-0 against the Vikings since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Cincinnati Christian Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the New Miami Vikings at 1:00 p.m. Hopefully Cincinnati Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
After a string of three wins, Cincinnati Christian's good fortune finally ran out. They were beaten by Mt. Healthy 74-28. Cincinnati Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.
Despite their defeat, Cincinnati Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Serena Cyprien, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Cyprien has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Addyson Raby was another key contributor, scoring three points along with three steals.
Even though New Miami has not done well against the Titans recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. New Miami had just enough and edged the Titans out 36-33.
Cincinnati Christian's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for New Miami, their victory bumped their record up to 4-13.
Everything came up roses for Cincinnati Christian against the Vikings when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 41-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cincinnati Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
