Baseball Recap: Hartford Orioles vs. Indian Trail Hawks
Hartford proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 17) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Indian Trail Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Orioles have posted since May 22, 2024.
Hartford got a great performance from Ayden Grulke as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Grulke has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joe Landgraf, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
The victory got Hartford back to even at 4-4. As for Indian Trail, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hartford will challenge Homestead at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Orioles are facing the Highlanders at the right time seeing as the Highlanders are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
