Baseball Recap: Hartford Victorious

Hartford proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 17) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Indian Trail Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Orioles have posted since May 22, 2024.

Hartford got a great performance from Ayden Grulke as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Grulke has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joe Landgraf, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

The victory got Hartford back to even at 4-4. As for Indian Trail, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hartford will challenge Homestead at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Orioles are facing the Highlanders at the right time seeing as the Highlanders are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Indian Trail, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kenosha Tremper at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th.
