Softball Recap: Cascade Wins Going Away Against Shelbyville

The third road game was the charm for Cascade, as they earned their first away victory of the season. Everything went their way against the Shelbyville Golden Bears on Saturday as they made off with a 19-5 win. With that victory, the Cadets brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Grace Gray made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Gray was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Cascade let Ava Allen and Lacie Godby run wild. Allen scored five runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5, while Godby went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five runs gave Allen a new career-high. Macey Pugh was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Cascade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shelbyville only posted an OBP of .333.

Cascade picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Shelbyville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Cascade wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-8 victory against Avon on the 12th. As for Shelbyville, they have also already played their next contest, a 9-8 loss against Eastern Hancock on the 12th.
