Baseball Recap: Middlesex Comes Up Short

Middlesex had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-9 to make it seven. They fell 5-2 to Groton School. Middlesex was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Groton School apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Middlesex saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was EJ McAuliffe, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Groton School, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games.

On Groton School's side, Ronny Jordan and Kaiden Donia did most of the damage at the plate: Jordan went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Donia got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middlesex will host Austin Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 0.8 runs per game this season, so Middlesex's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Groton School, they will welcome Phillips Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
