Basketball Game Preview: Albuquerque Academy Chargers vs. Valley Vikings

The Albuquerque Academy Chargers will challenge the Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Albuquerque Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Valley likes a good challenge.

Albuquerque Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Sandia just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 74-67 to the Matadors. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Matadors are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Albuquerque. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by exactly seven points.

Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Albuquerque Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.

Albuquerque Academy beat Valley 45-38 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Albuquerque Academy repeat their success, or does Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
