Softball Recap: York Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but York had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Oak Lawn Spartans. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Dukes also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Avery Kanouse made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last eight contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sara Steinecker was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. Alexandra ElEtr-Garofalo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

York hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Lawn struck out ten times.

York has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Lawn, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-14.

As of now, neither York nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
