Soccer Game Preview: El Campo vs. Palacios

The El Campo Ricebirds will head out to take on the Palacios Sharks at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. El Campo knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Palacios likes a good challenge.

El Campo's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Rice Consolidated 9-0. It was an even better day for Orinson Artica as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Palacios' offense. They lost 7-0 to Bay City on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 786th, while the Blackcats are ranked 230th).

El Campo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 56 goals over those eight matches. Palacios' loss dropped their record down to 4-12-2.

Everything went El Campo's way against Palacios in their previous matchup back in January, as El Campo made off with a 5-1 win. In that game, El Campo amassed a halftime lead of 4-1, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
