Baseball Game Preview: Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets vs. Mercedes Tigers

For the second straight game, Edcouch-Elsa will face off against Mercedes. The Yellowjackets will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Edcouch-Elsa has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with six straight defeats, while Mercedes will come in with three straight wins.

Mercedes hit Edcouch-Elsa with a eight-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellowjackets took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

For Mercedes' part, they got a big performance out of Brandon Acosta, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Figueroa, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mercedes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Mercedes' record is now 12-8. As for Edcouch-Elsa, their loss dropped their record down to 5-15.
