Basketball Recap: Pontotoc's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

If Pontotoc was feeling good fresh off their 51-30 takedown of New Hope last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pontotoc Warriors fell to the Callaway Chargers 39-35. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Callaway's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trinity Cook, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Megann Wallace, who earned ten points and five rebounds.

Pontotoc's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Callaway, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Pontotoc and Northwest Rankin will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Callaway, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Warren Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
