The Arlington Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Liberty Bison at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arlington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Liberty's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Last Friday, Arlington made easy work of Rancho Verde and carried off a 7-1 victory. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Lorena Ricasa, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Ryleigh Pliego was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Liberty had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bison have posted since February 26th.
Janessa Guigliano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Yasmine Lopez was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameryn Rutkoff, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
Arlington's record now sits at 6-3. As for Liberty, their record is now 10-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arlington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
