Baseball Recap: Northwestern Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Northwestern can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Eisenhower Knights 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since May 8, 2024.

Solomon Bland made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bland was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joe Schaukowitsch, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of David White, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Northwestern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Eisenhower, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Northwestern will take on Girard at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Yellowjackets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Eisenhower, they will square off against Union City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bears will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
