Softball Recap: Burroughs Takes a Loss

Burroughs extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 14-11. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arcadia Apaches. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Bears haven't been shut out since back in March.

Valentina Reyes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

As for Arcadia, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5-2. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs.

On Arcadia's side, not much got past Samantha Almaraz, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Burroughs off the board.

At the plate, Cecile Crowder was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Burroughs will be playing in front of their home fans against Muir at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Arcadia, they will head out to challenge Crescenta Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Apaches' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
