Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Nolan Barrett and Aylin Gomez Lead Manitou Springs to Victory

Manitou Springs won the last time they faced Florence and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Manitou Springs Mustangs walked away with a 36-25 win over the Florence Huskies. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Manitou Springs was led to victory by Aylin Gomez and Nolan Barrett. Gomez went 7 of 11 on her way to 18 points and three steals, while Barrett posted six points and 11 steals. Gomez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexi Sobral, who had two points.

Florence's loss came despite strong showings from Claire Bosley and Victoria Finnigsmier. Bosley scored six points and ten boards, while Finnigsmier earned five points and three steals. With that strong performance, Bosley is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Manitou Springs' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6. As for Florence, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Manitou Springs has already played their next contest, a 46-30 win against James Irwin on the 24th. As for Florence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 48-7 loss against Lamar on the 24th.
