Basketball Recap: Calvary Christian Academy Comes Up Short

The Calvary Christian Academy Lions had to suffer through a 78-41 loss at the hands of the Merritt Island Mustangs.

Despite the loss, Calvary Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Adonis Thompson posted 18 points. Mason Close was another key player, putting up eight points.

Leading Merritt Island to victory were LEGACY MILLER and KHALIL JORDAN. MILLER shot 58% from the field to rack up 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, while JORDAN went 6-for-10 en route to 17 points along with six boards and five steals. Thanks to that strong game, JORDAN now owns an excellent 46.7% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of KEVIN VERPAELE, who scored eight points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Calvary Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Merritt Island, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Calvary Christian Academy will face off against DME Academy Gold at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Merritt Island, they have already played their next matchup, a 56-52 loss against Melbourne Central Catholic on the 10th.
