Softball Recap: El Monte Beats Mountain View for Their Fourth Straight Victory

El Monte had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Mountain View Vikings. Considering the Lions have won four games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Eve Reyes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, El Monte saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Herrera, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

El Monte now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Mountain View, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, El Monte and Mountain View will both be playing Marshall the next time they take the field. The Lions will host the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Vikings will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
