Basketball Recap: North Miami Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact North Miami can now relate to. They took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cowan Blackhawks on Tuesday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why North Miami lost, don't look at Jacob Riley. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. The game was Riley's ninth in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Clingaman, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 10 points.

Even though they lost, North Miami smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Cowan got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Garrett out in front who posted 16 points along with six assists and six boards. Lucas Terrell was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 13 points and three steals.

North Miami's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Cowan, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-14.

North Miami does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cowan, they will take on Northfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cowan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
