Softball Recap: Elko Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Elko can now relate to. They fell just short of the Churchill County Greenwave by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Indians couldn't push the score so high this time.

Taylor Hunton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kallista Crouch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Elko has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-16 record this season. As for Churchill County, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-10.

Elko does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Churchill County, they will head out to square off against North Valleys at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Greenwave will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last eight matchups.
