Baseball Recap: Northtown Takes a Loss

Northtown came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-1 to the Walther Christian Academy Broncos. The loss continues a trend for the Pumas in their meetings with the Broncos: they've now lost seven in a row.

Gabriel Velez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Aiden Ortiz also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Northtown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Walther Christian Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12.

Coming up, Northtown will head out to take on Steinmetz College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Walther Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
