Basketball Recap: Northwestern's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Western came into Wednesday's game looking for another win against Northwestern, but Anna Bishir wouldn't allow it. The Northwestern Tigers managed a 48-42 win over the Western Panthers on Wednesday thanks in part to Bishir, who went 11 of 20 on her way to 27 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Despite the defeat, Western had strong showings from Ellyse Walden, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards, and Rhiana Bowman, who posted ten points and six blocks. Walden is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Kayleigh Auth also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Northwestern moved to 7-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Western, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

Northwestern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-50 loss against Wabash on the 25th. As for Western, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-18 defeat against Rensselaer Central on the 24th.
