Softball Game Preview: Upland Highlanders/Scots vs. Los Osos Grizzlies

The Upland Highlanders/Scots will challenge the Los Osos Grizzlies at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Upland's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Los Osos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Upland earned a 4-1 win over Aquinas. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Highlanders/Scots.

Meanwhile, Los Osos hadn't done well against Rancho Cucamonga recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Grizzlies blew past the Cougars 10-3.

Abigail Merchant made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits. Merchant was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Renata Arroyo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Kassandra Granillo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Los Osos' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-9-1. As for Upland, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.

Upland took their victory against Los Osos in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 13-1 score. Do the Highlanders/Scots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
