Softball Recap: St. Charles North Takes Down Glenbard West in a Playoff Battle

St. Charles North extended their postseason success on Friday against Glenbard West. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Hilltoppers. Considering the North Stars have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Paige Murray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Ella Heimbuch and Julianna Kouba did most of the damage at the plate: Heimbuch went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Kouba went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Kouba has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Zawadzki, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

St. Charles North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive games.

St. Charles North's record now sits at 22-9. As for Glenbard West, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-9.

As of now, neither St. Charles North nor the Hilltoppers have any future games scheduled.
